Adyen, a global payments processor for leading businesses, is expanding its in-person payment offering with Tap to Pay on Android. The software-based solution allows businesses to convert any compatible Android device, such as smartphones, tablets, kiosks, and handheld devices, into a payment terminal and accept contactless payments.
This is a major step forward for Adyen, as it enables businesses to securely enhance their customers' checkout experiences, streamline processes, and reduce hardware costs. For example, retailers using handheld devices in store to check inventory can now easily accept payments on the same device, eliminating the need to visit the cash register and slow down the checkout process. Similarly, platform businesses can enable delivery personnel to use their logistics hardware to also accept payments at the door for deliveries, creating ease and mobility for processing payments.
“Adyen’s Tap to Pay on Android rollout is part of our commitment to broadening software-based solutions for in-person payments," said Edgar Verschuur, Global Head of Payments at Adyen. “Tap to Pay on Android is the latest example of how we’re enabling hardware diversity for more businesses and giving them the freedom to provide the user-friendly, speedy checkout experiences their customers want.”
Adyen's Tap to Pay on Android solution is also a major boost for the food and beverage industry. As part of the initial rollout, Adyen has partnered with Oracle Food and Beverage, a leading provider of point-of-sale systems to restaurants, and sports and entertainment venues worldwide, to integrate Tap to Pay on Android into systems commonly used across the hospitality industry. This will give Oracle's customers an intuitive checkout process and reduced hardware footprint, which are critical themes for business owners and IT leaders in the restaurant industry.
“Continuing our partnership with Adyen through our adoption of Tap to Pay on Android gives our Oracle Payment Cloud Service customers an intuitive checkout process and reduced hardware footprint,” said Simon de Montfort Walker, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Oracle Food and Beverage Unit. “These are all critical themes for business owners and IT leaders in the restaurant industry. That’s why we’re so excited to bring this highly desired capability to the market.”
Adyen's Tap to Pay on Android is a powerful new solution that will help businesses of all sizes improve their in-person payment experiences.
Here are some of the benefits of Adyen's Tap to Pay on Android for businesses
- Secure - Tap to Pay on Android uses the same security features as Google Pay, so businesses can be confident that their customers' payments are safe.
- Flexible - Businesses can use any compatible Android device as a payment terminal, giving them the freedom to choose the hardware that best suits their needs.
- Cost-effective - Tap to Pay on Android eliminates the need for businesses to purchase and maintain dedicated payment terminals, saving them money.
