Zeller, provides payment terminals and business banking accounts to small businesses, has launched a new standalone transaction account and debit card.
The new account is free to use, with no monthly fees or transaction fees. Businesses can create an account instantly in the Zeller app and start making payments immediately.
Users can also apply for a physical debit card, which will be mailed to them. Alternatively, they can purchase a physical debit card at any Officeworks store for $15, with Zeller reimbursing the cost directly into the user's account.
Zeller CEO Ben Pfisterer said the new account was designed to make it easier for businesses to get started with Zeller.
"We wanted to make it as easy as possible for businesses to get access to our products and services," he said. "With this new account, businesses can create an account in minutes and start using it immediately."
The new account is also designed to meet the needs of businesses in regional Australia. Pfisterer said that businesses in regional areas often do not have access to traditional bank branches, so the ability to open an account online is a major advantage.
"We know that regional Australia is traditionally a really innovative part of our broader economy," he said. "Often they're small business owners themselves or sole traders. So being able to serve them when they often are suffering a bit of isolation in terms of getting their services is really exciting for us."
The launch of the new account is part of Zeller's broader plan to challenge the big banks. The company is looking to expand its product offerings to include business lending and other financial services.
"We have to make sure we're changing the game and actually offering a viably better solution than what's on the market," Pfisterer said. "And we think there is potential."
The new account is available now to businesses in Australia. To learn more, visit the Zeller via the Growpay website.
